The graduates from undergraduate program of Mathematics recieve Bachelor of Science degree on Mathematics. People having a program of mathematics can work in private sector and secondary schools as well as a teacher of Mathematics. People interested in scientific research in universities will continue their education with master program.
University Admission and Registration Requirement: 1) Final registration are made between the dates specified by Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The candidates who do not make final registration process between the dates indicated by ÖSYM lose the rights of registration. 2) The following conditions are searched for the registration to University; a) graduated from a high school or from an equivalent vocational school, the diploma balance of the people who graduates from high schools of foreign countries have to be approved by the Ministry of Education. b) As a result of the placement by OSYM, to get the rights to register in the teaching faculty of the University/colleges or had the points and conditions which is valid for the academic year for pre-registration system and the units. as a result of the Placement Exam of 2010-2011 done by ÖSYM, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Atatürk University conducted the adoption of undergraduate students into formal education by 252.85 points based on MF-1 point type. c) Providing the necessary documents for registration which are assigned in the ÖSYM exam guide while for foreign students to provide the necessary documentation requested by the Department of Student Affairs.
Admission can be made from the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Council of Higher Education. Admission can also be made from other state and private Universities by a horizontal transfer. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department on the basis of courses which they took from their former schools
Students must be successful and/or pass all courses on the programme that are explained education and exam regulation of Ataturk University.
Mathematics Department aims to educate well-qualified staff members, to make researches on the international stage, to serve humanity with researches at this field, to contribute to take the place of our country on the international stage.
Graduates take professional role in establishment of many public and private sector; such as Military Academies and Military High Schools, State Institute of Statistics, Public and Private Sector Banks, teacher at Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education, and researcher/lecturer at State and Private Universities. Graduates will have important roles in education of young people and in the development of the country.
Upon a successful completion of the programme, students are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.
1. Exams consist of short-term exam, midterm exam, final exam, the only course exam, additional exams, make-up exam and compensate for the exemption exam. These examinations can be applied as written, oral or both written and oral and / or the various types. 2. At least two hours are given for Final exams and at least one teaching hours is given for midterm exams. The examination time is determined by the instructor for the Short-term exams such as multiple choice and fill in the blank. 3. Midterm examinations and any similar studies on laboratory and class, the contribution of the homework and short-term examinations 60% of the average course grades of crude, while the effect of final exams is 40%. 4. Statistical evaluations are taken into account with the lower limit (AL). The students whose crude achievement scores fall below AL are counted fails and evaluated by FF grade. The scores between AL and DKL are counted by the other statistical evaluation. The student who gets the one of the grades of AA, BA, BB, CB ve CC for a course is considered successful. The grades of DC and DD taken for a course are evaluated depending on the students’ AGNO. 5. Among the students who have taken all the courses by the end of the semester successfully and have not taken any disciplinary punishment, the ones with the AGNO between the 3.00-3.49 and with the AGNO between 3.50-4.00 are received a certificate of semester honors and semester high honors, respectively.
In the four-year program of Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Atatürk University gives alumni who take total credit hours of 150 ± 30 or provided at least 240 ECTS in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The students whose graduation came to the state with a GPA lower than 2.00 are not allowed to graduate.
