Equivalence adopted by the Council of Higher Education institutions can be admitted. High School graduates who are successful in vertical transfer exam to receive a bachelor's degree may be admitted to be able to continue their education. These students will take courses, vocational high school graduates by the department concerned before the adjustment is determined by taking into account lessons and managed. Higher education institutions in the recognition of prior non-formal education at an early stage. Atatürk University, and thus part of this situation is no exception. However, each semester examination is being held for the level of English language and foreign language education is recognized in this way before. Students may be exempted from these courses in the curriculum if they receive a passing grade.
Students must be successfull and/or pass all courses on the programme including graduation thesis and intership that are explained education and exam regulation of Ataturk University.
The basic aim of the Department of Information and Records Management is to raise qualifed human strenght who can make the function of information,document and knowledge management which includes the search,support,arrangement,availability and publication of the printed and electronic information sources continue. In this sense, department’s basic mission is to raise information and documentation managers who can administer the libraries named as information centers, archive institutions, documentation and information centers, who can use the information Technologies actively and direct the users through the information.
Information and Document Management graduates are involved in both the public and private sector professionals. Graduates of the Department of Information Management, in accordance with their coursework, especially in our country, including libraries (university, public, children, school libraries, the National Library, a private research libraries), various information centers (information and documentation centers), the institution with the General Directorate of State Archives and the ability to work can find the archives of the organization, such as Internet service departments at various levels (web page design and editing, scan engines, creation and management operations), data base design and management departments of organizations and institutions, print and / or electronic media indexing and self-preparation service providers or organizations that perform the function of the distribution of these services, computer software companies, institutions and organizations can find the opportunity to work in R & D units
The graduates holding Bachelor's Degree are eligible to apply to Master's Degree programmes at national level and/or international level both in the same and in related disciplines
In Information and Records Management Program, students take at least 1 midterm and final exam for each coursework. Addition short-exams and homeworks can be given. For evaluation, mid-term activities/tests contribute 40 % to overall grading. The rest is contributed by final exam score. All tests are evaluated based on 100 points and class average is considered. The lecturers convert numerical scores into 4-letter grading category. Attendance is required. Students are not permitted to pursue further year if sequentially graduate-point averages (GPA) below 2.00. Grades AA, BA, BB, CB, and CC taken for a coursework are considered “pass”. Evaluation of grades DC and DD taken for a course is subjected to students’ GPA. If GPA is above 2.00, grades DC and DD for a lecture are considered “pass”. Grade FF indicates “fail”. Lectures evaluated by grades M and G are not included in overall GPA calculation.
Normal duration is 4 years. Students must take and pass all necessary courses totaling 148 credits and reach a minimum (grade point average) of 2,0 before him/her can graduate.
