This department, within the scope of four-year education faculties, is subject to 240 ECTS credits undergraduate grading system. Students acquired required program proficiencies, and completed program successfully are awarded with bachelors degree in history teaching.
First Cycle
Candidates must have high school diploma or equivalent, and must get adequate score on the High Education Institutions Exam. Students of equivalent programs, domestic or abroad, may apply for transfer or student exchange programs.
Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.
A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 300 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no FF or Z grades.
The purpose of history teaching program is to train history educators who has up to date field and professional knowledge and who can use this knowledge for the purpose of research and education.
• To train teachers who aim to develop the quality of education and instruction in general, and in particular try to todevelop his/her own personal knowledge and skills, and also who can set an example to society and students with his/her appearance, attitude, and behaviors. • To train individuals who is on science, democracy, basic freedoms, human rights, scientific and professional ethic values, and stick to historical and national values. • To create an exemplary department both with the history teachers its trained, and its scientific contributions to the field edecation.
Graduates, who have obtain sufficient score in KPSS (Civil Servant Election Exam), can be assigned history teacher by the Ministry of the National Education. Besides, there are employment opportunity in public utility, local and regional administration, personnel management, journalism, international organizations, tourism, administration and evaluation of cultural heritage, archives, museums, libraries and lateral branches of these.
May apply to master's or doctorate programmes in any field or proficiency in fine arts programmes.
