This department, within the scope of five-year education faculties, is subject to 300 ECTS credits undergraduate grading system. Students acquired required program proficiencies, and completed program successfully are awarded with bachelors degree in geography teaching.
First Cycle
Candidates must have high school diploma or equivalent, and must get adequate score on the Student Selection and Placement Exam. Students of equivalent programs, domestic or abroad, may apply for transfer or student exchange programs.
Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.
A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 300 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no FF or Z grades.
The purpose of teaching Geography undergraduate program is to educate teachers of geography who gained professional teaching knowledge, general culture and the knowledge of geography area, in accordance with the general objectives of Turkish National Education
Graduates, who have obtain sufficient score in KPSS (Civil Servant Election Exam), can be assigned geography teacher by the Ministry of the National Education. Besides, there are employment opportunity in public utility, local and regional administration, personnel management, journalism, international organizations, tourism, administration, evaluation of cultural heritage, and lateral branches of these.
