This department, within the scope of five-year education faculties, is subject to 300 ECTS credits undergraduate grading system. Students acquired required program proficiencies, and completed program successfully are awarded with bachelors degree in music teaching.
Candidates must have high school diploma or equivalent, and must get adequate score on the Student Selection and Placement Exam. Students of equivalent programs, domestic or abroad, may apply for transfer or student exchange programs.
Recognition of prior learning is at the beginning stage in the Turkish Higher Education System. Atatürk University and hence the Department of Fine Arts is no exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each term at the University for courses compulsory in the curriculum, such as Foreign Languages and Basic Computing. The students who have completed the learning process for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum, and this grade is entered into the transcript of the student.
To be able to secure the bachelor's degree in the field of Music education the students are required to have passed all courses in the curiculum.
Music education basically aims to create changes in behaviour intended for meeting the aesthetic needs of the individuals and the society by means of musical activities and interactions.
Music teaching program brings up students towards Turkish national education needs and nowadays music education processes requirements and with providing them being graduated equipped, one each becomes a leading music teacher or an music educator.
Successful students graduated from music teaching program, in case of taking adequate points from ALES exam and have adequate diploma points can deserve to enter master program.
Examination regulations are prepared taking into account the principles and procedures regarding the education-training and examinations carried out in the associate degree program / departments. This regulation; Atatürk University covers the pre-license, undergraduate education and training and exams related to all programs / departments of faculties / colleges / vocational schools. Successfully complete all courses equivalent 300 ECTS credists, and to achive minimum 2.0 out of 4.0 GPA.
