This department, within the scope of four-year education faculties, is subject to 240 ECTS credits undergraduate grading system. Students acquired required program proficiencies, and completed program successfully are awarded with bachelors degree in primary school mathematics teaching.
First Cycle
High school diploma and placement through a centralized national university placement examination, Student Selection Exam, ÖSS. Please visit www.osym.gov.tr for more information. There is a quota for international students who are admitted through selection by the university among the applicants.
Admission can be made from the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ataturk University and thus the department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language. The students who achieve a passing grade from the exam are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Students must be successfull and/or pass all courses on the programme including school experience and internship that are explained education and exam regulation of Ataturk University.
The basic purpose of the department is to educate qualified, visionary, positive, creative, productive and modern teachers and academic staff, for both our faculty and the others, who think scientifically and critically, reach the knowledge and share this knowledge with others.
Graduates of elementary mathematics education program take charge in public or private schools or specialized courses affiliated to Ministry of National Education. Besides they can tutor in private etude centers or individually.
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines. Students who are high honor students are also eligible to apply to doctorate degree at Ataturk University.

Successfully complete all courses equivalent 240 ECTS credists, and to achive minimum 2.0 out of 4.0 GPA.
