This department, within the scope of four-year faculties, is subject to 240 ECTS credits undergraduate grading system. Students acquired required program proficiencies, and completed program successfully are awarded with bachelors degree in journalism.
First Cycle
Atatürk University, Faculty of Communication accepts high school graduates who earn enough scores in Turkish and social tests in the Nationwide University Entrance Test organized by The Student Evaluation and Placement Center. Please visit www.osym.gov.tr for more information. Students from other communinacition, Journalism and Radio, Tv institutions and those graduated from related vocational schools are also accepted.
Admission can be made from the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by Faculty Board of Directors, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language. The students who achieve a passing grade from the exam are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Students must be successfull and/or pass all courses on the programme including graduation thesis and internship that are explained education and exam regulation of Ataturk University.
Constituting research, education and application field which raises communicators who have core and fundamental communication skills and who can effectively apply these features to different communication platforms, who have ethical emotions in their occupational practices and who works for public benefit, who adapted scientific and interrogator thinking, who perceive constant development as their own life style, who comprehend place of their occupation in social life and lastly but not limited with, who have critical thinking on world and their life.
Graduates take professional role in establishment of many public and private sector.
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines. Students who are high honor students are also eligible to apply to doctorate degree at Ataturk University.
For each course assessment and grading is described in Syllabus in details. Grades are assessed through relative assessment system. Assessment is done according to the Education and Examination Regulation of Ataturk University and Faculty of Communication
Normal duration is 4 years. Students must take and pass all necessary courses totaling 240 ECTS credits and reach a minimum (grade point average) of 2,0 before him/her can graduate. Students must prepare presentation and thesis, as attend practice, and do internship during education.
