International Relations Department offers formal and secondary education programs in Turkish. Students, completed four years of undergraduate program and 2.00 minimum GPA score out of 4.00, are granted with the International Relations Bachelors Degree.
Bachelor: (First Cycle) Program graduates will receive the degree 'a graduate of International Relations (IR) department'.
Ataturk University (AU) International Relations Department accepts high school graduates who are qualified to submit sufficient scores in the related field of YGS and LYS exams, both are administered by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM).
Students enrolled in Atatürk University might be exempted from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. A student can be exempted from a certain course provided related course content previously received from another institution complies with that of Ataturk University, which is subject to approval and verification by the Board of faculty/graduate school/school.
In order to graduate from this program, the students are required to succeed in all the courses as described in the in the Education and Examination Regulations of Atatürk University
The department aims at educating persons who can closely follow political, social changes and developments occuring in our country and in our world; can develop creative solutions to international political, social and commercial problems.
Graduates take professional role in establishment of many public and private sector. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Prime Minister's office, Ministry For EU Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Development, National Productivity Centre, Export Development and Study Center, Undersecretariat of Treasury, Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, Public and Private Banks. Graduates also take place in national and international rural development projects that are very much promising.
The students graduating from this program may apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and / or international level in the field of expertise. Students who are high honor students are also eligible to apply to doctorate degree at Ataturk University.
One or two mid-term exams and one final exam are required for every class offered at the department. Student has to meet the attendance requirements defined by the guidelines to be eligible to take the final exam. All exams are graded out of 100 points, and relative grading system is used to determine the student’s success grade. For this purpose, course lecturer converts the mid-term, final exam and other grades to the letter grades by means of a statistical evaluation of these based on the rules defined by the guidelines. Students who can not meet the 2.00 minimum GPA for two consequent semesters are not allowed to enroll the following semester’s classes. Any student who gets AA, BA, BB, CB and CC grades from a course is considered to be successful. On the other hand, DC and DD grades are evaluated based on the student’s cumulative GPA. If student’s cumulative GPA is above the minimum GPA, then student is considered to be successful in all courses with DC and DD grades. FF grade is assigned to a student who is assumed to be unsuccessful in a course. A student with a FF grade in a particular course is supposed to re-register for that course first time it is offered with the same attendance and exam requirements. M and G grades are not accounted through the GPA calculation.
International Relations Department’s education guideline requires successfully completion of all the course work and applications as well as having a 2.00 minimum GPA score to get the International Relations Bachelor Degree.
