The students who have successfully completed a minimum of 21 local credits (equivalant to 60 ECTS credits) from thought courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, achieved a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and prepared and successfully defended a thesis are given Master s Degree in FINE ARTS EDUCATION
Second Cycle
1 - Bachelor s Degree in acceptable fields, 2 - Sufficient score from the National Academic Staff & Graduate Education Exam (ALES), 3 - Sufficient score from portfolio proficiency
No job teaching painting fine arts degree program and degree program, graduates are accepted.
To be able to secure the Master of science degree in the field of Art Education, the students are required to; (a) have passed a total of 21 credits (60 ETCS) courses in the curiculum with a grade of at least CC, (b) have achieved a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, (c) prepared a master thesis, submitted and successfully defended with a passing grade.
Art Education Program’s aims is educate visual arts teacher who have general and specialized knowledge, experienced with techniques and methods in education and training, notice ethics and aesthetics, respect social values. These candidates should be well educated, investigative, communicative, responsible, productive, confident and modern to educate next generations.
Graduated students from art education programme can follow a PhD program in same or different branches. On the other hand students graduated succesfully from the art education department can be employed in a National Education or Higher Education institute.
The students who have successfully graduated from the Art Education programme may apply to PhD programmes in the field of Art Education and Art programmes, in case they passed the ALES and English Examination.
Examination, Assessment and Grading Regulations
The examination, assessment and grading regulations have been set up for the university by the University Senate and the Department of Art Education is bound by these regulations. Each course is assessed via a midterm exam, a second mid-term exam composed of quizzes, homeworks and assignments, and a final end-of-term exam, with contributions of 30%, 20% and 50% respectively. The marking is made out of 100. Grades of 81-100 is assigned a letter grade of AA, 76-80 BA, 70-75 BB, 60-69 CB, 50-59 CC, 45-49 DC, 40-44 DD, 30-39 FD and 0-29 FF. The AA is the highest grade and has a grade credit of 4.00, BA 3.5, BB 3.0, CB 2.5, CC 2.0, DC 1.5, DD 1.0, FD 0.5 and FF 0.0. Grades of AA to CC are pass, DD to FF fail, and DC is conditional pass and requires a CGPA of at least 2.0 for that term. The details given for each course in the programme include the detailed assessment methods together with a description of the second mid-term exam.
